That's part of it, then there is the beauty of watching a guy return a kick 105 yards while evading 10.5 guys trying to level him. (Kickers usually only count for half-a-guy. Which also explains why soccer isn't bigger over here.) And the ultimate poetry in sport, seeing a player throw a ball 70 meters, and having it land precisely in the hands of another player running as fast as an Olympic sprinter. The team sport equivalent of a shattering orgasm.
And I agree about the organic nature of good soccer. Frankly, I tried it. Too much damn running, and I had bruises on my shins you would not believe. On the plus side, I did manage a couple broken bones on the other side, :)
