PK's are always nerve racking. It's the most unsatisfying decider to a tournament match, but what other choice is there? I thought Spain were totally gubbed at that point as Buffon is quite the charm during shootouts but Iker rivals him for Best GK in the world status. I didn't think he'd pull off two saves, though. Tremendous. I have a big soft spot for Italy as one of their usual (he was suspended on Sun) starting midfielders, Rino Gattuso, was a cult icon at the time he spent at Rangers, but if Italy had went through the tournament would've been the poorer for it.
Two exciting SF's to come! The passion of Turkey and a German team who are now hitting their stride (Germany v Portugal was the best QF of the lot - I hope you saw it!). I've not been a big advocate of Germany this year, despite everyone running to claim them as favourites. Their performance against Portugal was the only one thus far to indicate they might have what it takes.
Russia v Spain will be a doozy, considering its been only a few short weeks since Spain thumped them 4-1 with their best performance of the tournament. The Russians are looking fantastic atm and Hiddink will surely have a plan, having close knowledge of Spain. I'm a little edgy :s
