Impressed? Football's not that hard to understand, but I would say that as I do understand it. I could explain the dreaded offside rule from age 8. I think there's a differing way of looking at sports in the Uk and US from what I garnered from ESPN (I watched some Euro08 matches on the internet because the commentators were two Scottish guys - much much less annoying than the english commentators talking about England - who didn't make it either).

On ESPN with US pundits they seemed quite focused on talking about 'plays', rewinding it back, circling stuff and so forth. On British coverage you'll get replays of possible offsides or missed penalty decisions etc but less weight is put on the 'set play' side and more on key pieces of skill or ability. I think it's between viewing it tactically and organically... Perhaps. I'm not sure if that's quite true. I've still to figure that one out, but when I do it may hold the secret of why many Americans haven't taken to soccer.

A 320 lb guy and a 225 lb guy coliding at a combined 40 mph is wicked.

Ah! That's what American Football's all about! The violence and carnage! I'm sold.
