lynsangelic1: (Giles life)

Here I am, fully armed with a can of German insect killer and a huge hardback book.  I am ready to lay the smackdown on any bloody spiders who decide to fuck me off tonight - I don't function well on 5 hours sleep!  Quite dangerous, I suppose, that I can't understand a word of German on the can.  The instructions might be 'spray short bursts at 3 second intervals in circles while doing a line dance to get rid of insects and pests!'  Or 'Don't use this at all.  it's extremely poisonous to humans.  Please wear fencing mask or similiar'.

Ach.  It says kills 'fliegen, mucken (!), ameisen, silberfischen'.  I'm assuming those are names for insektens.  Could be wrong.  It has a picture of a fly in crosshairs on the can so it surely can't be a healthy, insect grow spray?

I don't care.  To tell the truth, I'm a little in love with this ol' German can o' mine.  Should really stop petting it lovingly and should look up an online translator but so lethargic.

In a way, this day's been a bit of a non event.  Haven't written a scrap - fic or otherwise.  Just lazed about reading magazines and books and wandering about town and such.

Spoke to the ex (argh! ex!) flatmate on the phone for a while, nice to hear from her.  I did live with her for three years.  It just feels like I'm on holiday atm... But we're going to Dundee for a gig a week on Tuesday.  Dundee is arse.  No buses or trains leave there for either Glasgow or Edinburgh after half 9.  So we have to stay somewhere.  And I can only find places to stay in Dundee South Africa, instead of Scotland.  Argh.

Need to sort out my bittorrent downloading TV soon.  Last year I had quite a list of what episodes where airing on what night in the US and reminder to download them the next day.  Got quite a routine going.  Gonna have to sort out premiere dates etc.. It's easy enough to do but just cannot be arsed atm.  I think I've missed an episode or two of weeds since downloading the 4 episode leak over a month ago.  Should check it out...

This whole day has sapped much energy out of me.  and I blame that spider.

Yup.  This post was entirely rubbish, but I'm trying to get in the habit of posting more regulary, as opposed to floating about comms.

I for one look forward to your posts, so please feel free to post about anything. Your post makes me want to post in my LJ, but I didn't do anything this weekend so I have nothing interesting to say.

*snorts* Just you wait, it'll end up being some miracle grow or something to build an insect army. You'll find it in you're drawers trying on socks next.

Argh! How could you say that? You've given me a lifetimes worth of nightmares! Socks! Argh!
An Australian girl I know tells me that it's just habit in Oz to look under benches and in your shoes for spiders before you put them on. I need to start doin that. If the insect army attacks, I'm gonna have to make myself a full body suit and cower in a corner with my Itral and hardback...

*shudders*

If it makes you feel any better I have arachniphobia too. In fact, I just had to hoover up one the size of my thumb five minutes ago. *shudder* My friend in the US found a black widow while we were on the phone. It wasn't until I visited her that she decided to tell me that the porch I was standing on was where it lives. I did NOT walk out her back door again.

Hey, you don't know me but I came across your journal in a fanfic community (love your fics btw!!) and since I'm from Germany I had to comment when I read this entry. You guessed right..those are German words for insects. For flies, mosquitos, ants and silverfish. Just thought I'd let you know. Maybe you already did check an online dictionary, though, so this comment was completely random. Not that it wasn't anyway lol
Well, if you need further translation let me know :)

awwwwwwwww

lol - at least you made me laugh out loud while reading this entry, re: the spider, Sharon Stone, and your verbatim to the spider.

Seriously though, how huge are these things? You make them sound like T-Rex's or something and here I'm looking around my room making sure there aren't any signs of them...

LOL - I love your posts. Yes, I am sympathesing with you though, don't worry - you'll be fine, just - get better insecticide.

Spiders here can be huge in the summer, especially if you live close to country. They're entirely non-poisonous (because their fangs are too short, not because they don't have the venom) but huge ass bloody monsters. This was was at least the size of your palm with a huge body and pointy legs.

God... I'm going to start to cry picturing it. Such a wimp.

At least I make you laugh with my lame trials and tribulations :) You know what they say about clouds and silver linings.
