Researchers have developed a robot which can tackle the chores, dance and show emotion.

I've been watching Battlestar Galactica lately - Usually spaceship sci-fi is soooo not my thing.  But it was highly rec'd  and I was enticed by the use of Greek mythology.  I managed to liberate the mini series and season 1 from ebay for pennies.  I'm now on season four and enjoying very much. I love my over reaching arc stuff, but I do like that there's a definite end point - though not so much that the end is very much nigh and I'll have to wait til January to watch with everyone else is rubbish.

Anyway.  Not the point of this post that I had to make, as I fall asleep, typing one handed.  The point is that when I read the blurb of this article on the homepage of yahoo, an unintentional strangled cry of 'No' escaped my throat.

Robots feeling emotion?  Intelligence?  Have we learned nothing from Terminator, BSG and the Matrix???  It's all there.  I'm not usually so paranoid, and I don't think a truly sentient mechanoid will be created in my lifetime but with steps such these and thoughts like "Hey, what harm could a dumb chore-doing machine be?" I can't help but see what lies ahead.

I'm starting a coalition for the Anti-Robot Future.  Unite!

Or maybe I just need to turn off BSG and get some sleep, Y/Y??

Damnit.  I can't see what damn keys I'm pressing and I've just made my firefox window full screen.  Freaking me out.  the robots did it. That should teach me for operating machinery while half passed-out and OD'd on sci-fi...

Miss? Oh, Miss?
One caveat if you please Miss. If they finally invent a robot that looks like Summer Glau, and if it turns out to be all violent and stuff, can I haz death by oral stimulation plz?

Hm... As attractive as certain robot mechanoids are (as in, I squealed like a demented woman when there was a Six-on-Six kiss in BSG) would you say that however delirious your death may be, that it would be worth it for the entire human race to suffer? Because as soon as Summer's finished you off (Twenty double entendre points to me!) then surely she'll be rampaging and killing the rest of us.

However. Should she stick to her modus operandi (i.e. death by oral stimulation) then it may take a while, giving us time to come up with an escape plan. Should we need more time, I'm sure there will be a few brave souls willing to lay their lives down to Summer to give us another hour or so.

Actually. Scratch all that. Yes, of course you can have a sexbot death machine to play with. ;)

Actually I'm not picky...
I'd be happy with the Buffy Bot.

So how's the play writing going? Didn't you enter one into a competition of some kind?

I did. I won't hear about that one until the end of November. I have actually just this minute finished the redraft. I'm really not happy with the title I've given it ("The First Horseman") but it's a helluva lot better than "Boy Who Is Obsessed With The Plague" which was the save title of the play at first. I suck completely at titles.

I've been carrying around the 120 page door-wedge with me everywhere, unable to part with it as I do continual proof reads, additions, subtractions and indulge in my manic writing rituals. I'm ready to release it to the ether.

Now I need to print 7 copies to send to various New Writing theatres over the country. Seeing as one copy takes my ancient printer 45 minutes, it'll take a while...

I may have to steal Cameron to keep me busy in between paper reloads?

How bout you? What news on the Rialto?

You may steal Cam anytime you want! I just wish there was a Willow Bot...grump.
Endless changes and stuff huh? They used to tell me when I was working as a design engineer "There comes a time in the design of every product when it's time to shoot the engineer and get on with manufacturing." Guess that works for writers as well.
I shall continue to keep everything crossable for you for the success of your plays! I want to say someday that "I knew her when..."
What news on the Rialto? Hmmm, I'll have to ask Salarino next time I see him.
Love ya!
