I'm not writing to you from in the midst of a blizzard - that was yesterday. I arose mega early, like the weather was my alarm clock and went out walking. I did look a bit strange in non-matching winterwear just wandering around as if I'd never seen so much of the white stuff before. This was mostly because I didn't have the puppy with me. She fell and hurt her leg while running about daft at the weekend, so she's on the crippled list. She just hobbles about, looking forlorn because she missed the snow she loves so much. I couldn't even take her out for a walk in the strictest sense of the word, because there is no way she's sensible enough to take it easy and just hobble along the road. Nope, she'd be jumping into the burn, swimming and running about mad as usual, ignoring the pain. She doesn't know when to quit and would hurt herself more, ergo the housebound dog. I've renamed her Limpy for the interim peroid.

Pfft... Wish I had something more interesting to say... Not won any Tony's yet, but have ripped some CD's onto my ps3 and discovered, like, 10 more things it's capable of.

Been doing some gutting out. I'm a keeper- as in, I keep everything just in case it comes in useful one day. It's something I inheirited from my mother who's much worse than I. I've been looking back through my set of uni notebooks which contain more cartoons and conversations than actual lecture notes. There are also a lot of shitty 'beginning of a play' stuff in there as well. Lots of pretentious conversations between arsey urbanites and wanky dialogue for disembodied voices. Awful, awful stuff.

1. What are your nicknames?
Lyns. That’s really about it in terms of widespread nicknames. Selective in-jokey ones include Sultan of Poofs, Filth of India, Gayface, Honey Bunny (slightly more pleasant), wife and Baw Two. My ex called me Lamby Toes a bit too much for my liking, as toes aren’t my favourite thing, but I certainly wouldn’t want anyone else to be calling me that over a beer, even if it is from Firefly.

2. What's your favorite holiday?
A city break. I’m no good lying by a pool with the book and the colourful drink with an umbrella in it. I prefer to go out, see things, experience things and really just keep in the shade. I burned waiting outside
Edinburgh Airport for 20 minutes before my last holiday. The sun and I are not friends.

3. What's new in your life right now?
Not too much. The Trav thing I would say. Maybe just the general traction gained career-wise. I’m still skint as Hell though.

4. Where was the last Starbucks that you visited?
Glasgow Buchanan Street, inside Borders overlooking Royal Exchange Square. I’m usually more of a Costa girl but it was late, this one was close and in quite a nice part of Glasgow. Went out for a catch up dinner n’ vino night with Kat. We downed a bottle before dinner, thirsty as Hell and then quite tipsy. But after dinner, we struggled with the second, yawning and generally being pathetic. Kat and I used to drink from 5-1 every Friday night after Uni and then roll into work on Saturday morning. We used to be hardcore. I believe we were drunk for all of fifteen minutes that night, therefore we went for an after dinner coffee, like grown up people. Urgh.

5. Are you introverted or extroverted?
Both. I like being alone, pottering about by myself: writing, reading, ps3-ing, alphabetising. I can be in my head a lot. But when I’m in a group, or out on the town I can be quite the extrovert Ring Leader/Jester type, not to mention all the weird and wonderful people I chat randomly to throughout a night.

6. What books are you currently reading?
I’m trying to get through Chuck Palaniuk’s Rant for the 3rd time. I usually love him, but I’m not feeling it with this one. I’ve had this book for 2 years, since it came out, but it’s not working for me. He’s got a new one now and I’m not buying it til I finish this one.

7. What celebrity do you have a crush on?
I have my usual posse of crushes and my affection is cyclical as I love one more than the others for a while and then it changes. Right now it’s Kate Winslet. She’s so friggin’ talented I can’t stand it and her Golden Globes performance made me sob and stroke the screen because she was so lovely. Angelina, Kristen and Eliza are always hovering in the background. Seeing Dollhouse will push the Eliza obsession to the fore, I imagine.

8. What is your favourite pair of shoes to wear?
Black Van trainers. Non descript, comfy, warm, reliable, practical and goes with most things. I’m low maintenance on the shoes.

9. What type/genre of music do you usually listen to?
Alt. rock, metal, post-hardcore, slightly weirder avante garde stuff. My favourite band right now is This Will Destroy You. I don’t know how to describe them… instrumental atmospheric rock perhaps? Gorgeous stuff whichever way. I’m also quite into Amanda Palmer just now. So yeah, more experimentally interesting stuff has been my poison of late. But that doesn’t stop me cracking on
Cher when I’m in the mood. I would say that one genre I have no time for would be reggae. It makes me angry. Don’t Worry, Be Happy? What the fuck is that about?

10. First three things you do right after you get up.
Groan. Drink water. Check the time. Thrilling, eh?

11. You go out with friends to get some ice-cream. How many scoops and what flavors do you order?
Depends where. A traditional good ice cream place, then vanilla. There’s nothing better than a good vanilla. If it’s the cinema, it’s usually Ben n’ Jerry’s on offer, so some sort of cookie dough concoction.

12. What do you love to wear?
Funnily enough, the same as Brit – comfy jeans, long sleeved shirt and a T-Shirt. Or a white collared shirt underneath a black top for the collar effect. It’s as smart as I can look without feeling like a total twat.

13. When people guess your age, do they usually think you're older, younger or get it right?
About my age or slightly younger. Unless they’ve been talking to me in the dark, in which case they place me around 28, 30 etc. My high school best friends gran thought I was 25 or so. If that was the case, I don’t know why I woulda been hanging around with a 17 year old. I can’t help my smart arse mouth.

14. When you meet new people, do you: A) talk their ear off, B) smile to them and then ignore them to talk to your friends, C) chat politely, D) find a common ground/interests and get to know them better
D most likely. Maybe a little bit of B if it’s a big group and I’m getting bad vibes – a situation which arose recently.

15. Do you have a driver's license?
I do not. I have a chauffeur for such things.

16. What was the first band you ever saw live?
Staind. I am shamed. Puddle of Mudd also supported = yet more shame. First ever concert (as opposed to proper gig with bands that play instruments) was PJ & Duncan aka Ant and Dec. Followed by the Spice Girls, which is slightly cooler, history wise.

17. What's your favourite colour nail polish?
Black as you really can’t go long. But I haven’t really worn it for a while. I had this lovely glossy dark brown which was a favourite for a while – but as nail polish often does, it went gloopy and lumpy.

18. When was the last time you've gotten drunk/tipsy?
Hm, I don’t think I was technically drunk on Saturday after the show even though I tried. I wasn’t even that tipsy. Wasn’t drunk on Friday because I decided adrenaline + alcohol + important people around = me making an arse of myself at the worst possible time. Jesus… When was I last drunk? That half an hour a couple of weeks ago when I met up with Kat possibly. Before that, Christmas Eve. That was ‘up til 5am, drinking at a bridge for the fun of it’ type drunk.

19.Do you have a middle name?
Jane. Some of my good friends don’t even know that as I’ve refused to tell them.

20. What was the first TV show you couldn't get enough of?
Buffy. First culty type thing I watched was Lois and
Clark, which I did try to make sure I watched every Saturday, but it wasn’t obsession like BtVS. And watching L&C recently, I’ve been astonished at just how hammy n’ cheesy it was and I didn’t notice. I was only wee though.
