Awesome

I read up on Mars and the mission on Friday for fun and learned lots of new words as well as lots of mathematical concepts I'm am not capable of computing.  I'm like an Amiga that way.  It'll take weeks to process, you might as well just stick in Tetris.  I read an article earlier on this evening which said the scientists put the chance of a successful landing at less than 50% which kinda blows.  All that time, all that money for nothing.  But they did it.  Bravo.  Now - go find me some aliens.

Not generally into sci-fi, space, astronautary etc but I do like knowledge.  The dubious monetary value of NASA is something I've long struggled with but something like this is quite exciting.

Reading jPod by Douglas Coupland right now and thoroughly enjoying the random, crazy, hilariousness of it all, littered with geeky pop-culture references.

I need a new power cable for my laptop.  I have to flex the cable just so and not move it a fraction less the computer cut out.  I don't know why it doesn't just revert to battery power.  Sigh.  I have a stupidly rare connector which you can't get in the universal power adaptors.  So it's forking out a bit more money than I have.  But cannot function without laptop.  Sad truth.

I am ridiculously tired but I need to finish my proposal by tomorrow.  Didn't bloody help I choose to spend hours editing and posting the final chapter of IOY. :)

Oh, and also voted in the LJ advisory elections.  Procrastinated useless time reading manifestos so I could make an informed decision - [community profile] legomymalfoy, [personal profile] rmand [profile] randomposting that would be.  [community profile] legomymalfoy for fandom needs and a strong set of ideas.  Looks like she's winning as well with [personal profile] rm not too far behind.  Can I pick em, or can I pick em?

IOY. :D I tried reviewing twice and stupid ff.net was all 'only one review per chapter is allowed' or some such rot.

Anyway, I will advocate another's opinion in choice of music - IMOGEN HEAP ROCKS. You should listen to her, for realz.

I downloaded (because I'm poor and bad like that) her album and quite liked it. There's loads of different sounds n stuff in there.

And woohoo! IOY done!

And to answer your question in the review about how I found you again (cue swelling music) I was clearing out my yahoo inbox one day and found your emails and wondered if you were still in fandom so I just typed you in LJ and voila! If you'd used a different username then I would've been buggered, lol.

Dude. You should totally write a sequel. Or maybe an alternate ending that's NOT so happy :D I mean, there's that other fic you wrote - the title with all the numbers signifying a date? 26/11/2001! (I went and looked it up at FA). THAT ONE was like WHOA.

But I dunno, it would've been cool to see if Ginny could've survived leaving the country and trying to just get over Hermione.

I just love me some angst, alright?! :D ♥

I just love me some angst, alright?!

*is shocked* No? Really? :)

I am always tempted by alternate endings - the road not taken and all. But I dunno.

I started writing another fic, provisionally called 'Arrangement' from Hermione's POV and I don't think it's going to be too happy...

You just love to see our favourite character's suffering, dontcha?

that was an amazing fic - really wonderful work, hun :)

:) Thank you muchly again. I'm a bit exhausted today and a bit at a loss for what to do now...

I'm going to friend you - hope you don't mind?
Date/Time: 2008-05-26 19:35 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] pokecharm.livejournal.com
not at all - I'm totally friending you back :) though I have to warn you, my journal gets a tad boring/depressing...and I'm a bit of a sports fan, so you've been warned ;)

I wish I could say I knew how you felt, but I'm still in the middle of three different fics, writing them at the same time was not the best decision on my part, but sometimes you can't control that, you know?

I hope you have another fun H/G story for us :)

I, too, am a sports fan but I'm betting it's completely not the same sport seeing as you damn Americans don't care much for football/soccer :p I think basketball's fun to play and not bad to watch, I completely do not understand American football (but then I don't get rugby either) though it seems like it's something you really can get into and baseball seems a bit... um... boring. I liked playing rounders as a kid which I think is a simplified version of baseball :)

Date/Time: 2008-05-26 19:49 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] pokecharm.livejournal.com
actually, I can not wait for Euro 2008 - I'm one of those rare American that actually enjoys a wide variety of sports, or at least I think so. But, yes, this fall, every Sunday/Monday you will get an update from me about how my NY Giants did :p

baseball is okay...even I can't watch it sometimes, but seeing it live is faboo :)

I can't do Cricket though, I just don't get it...the wickets confuse me...

And ouch to the three fic conundrum. I could be evil and say it's your fault for having too many good ideas that you need to write but that wouldn't be nice...
Date/Time: 2008-05-26 19:50 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] pokecharm.livejournal.com
lol I know...things just pop into my head and I'm like, if I don't write it down now, then what? I don't want to lose it, but then I build and build...I just want to finish one and then move on :s this writing is such a time-sap :s

Euro 2008 will be the only thing sustaining me after this season of incredible highs and desperate lows with Rangers. My tip (outside of Italy/France) is Spain. I just think they have it together this year, on form players and a more cohesive squad than before.

I do have an affinity with NY teams - Knicks, Yankees, Giants, Red Bulls etc, purely because I really love & want to go to New York. I used to watch the Knicks on late night basketball a lot. The Giants have Lawrence Tynes, don't they? The Greenock-born kicker? Greenock is about 20 miles from me. I have to support the Scottish guy ;)

And cricket sucks more than I can comprehend in my little brain. A bunch of former public school boys in white-whites looking as if what they're doing is barely athletic.

And I have loads of stories unfinished because something came in my head that moment and I had to write it, but then I get distracted by another idea/WIP and nothing ever gets done. I'm pretty delirious to have finished IOY tbh, from posting of the first chapter over on fictionalley, it's been over 2 and a half years.

I'm not sure who to root for. Normally I root for England, but if Becks doesn't play, I'm not sure I'll be cheering for them.

It is an interesting place, but I was born in NY, so that's why I go that way. And yes, he got a big deal this off-season thanks to some critical kicks he made :) He's a cutie too ;)

lol yeah, that's why I prefer Baseball to Cricket

wow? really! I'm so glad I caught it as you were finishing it. I'm writing like crazy trying to get my fics to cohesive ends. I map things out, but as I'm sure you know, the writing and characters sometimes lead you to things you didn't always intend. I'm more into acting than writing, so I take things from character perspectives. I never thought I could write, but the critique on my fic has, if I do say so myself, been pretty half-way decent. Not that I'm ever one to say I'm good at anything, but I like to try new, creative things.

so, any hints as to what else you're working on?

England didn't qualify, which makes it a little better that Scotland didn't qualify :) Though they had a ridiculously easy group compared to us - We had both Italy and France (we beat France twice) whereas they struggled with Russia and Croatia.

I think Beckham's probably seen his last days with England, I was pleased that he reached 100 caps, though. It would've been cruel not to let him. I think the MLS is very incompatible with the european World Cup qualifiers so it's unlikely he'll get a call-up again, especially factoring in his age.

Acting - theatre or screen? For fun or for dough? I graduated from drama school and write for theatre so that's why I write the way I write ;)

I've been moseying around all my unfinished documents all day and thought of another idea set in the seventh year which G/Hr went back to Hogwarts but Harry and Ron didn't - But I still can't decide what to invest in next. I've got a play commission due in a coupla' months so maybe I should actually do that ;)

Where could I find your fics?
Date/Time: 2008-05-27 00:23 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] pokecharm.livejournal.com
yeah, that makes it tough for me to decide who to cheer for...Italy and France are really tough...I think I'll just watch for the fun of it :) though the whole point of sports is to compete.

I'm afraid I agree with you...he was great at his best, but at his age, and playing in our sub-par football here, there's nothing for it. He got a great contract and should enjoy it :)

um, either and mostly fun, though I live in WDC, so there's often something going on ;) it's just a matter of finding time to do anything when I wrok FT. I think your writing is pretty compatible with general fiction writing :) so you can always branch out ;)

you know, you could always explore the relationship you alluded to between Ginny and Hermione in IOY - some of those flashback scenes were really sweet :) lol yes, money is nice ;)

I post all my fics at [livejournal.com profile] flannel_fiction - that's named after my flannel charmander, I always wonder if people wonder about that :p but be warned, its a Harry/Ginny fic - I wouldn't know how to write femme-slash :p

See the USA-England score? :( If it helps, I wanted you guys to win too. :)

I'm afraid that the culprit is likely the connector on the motherboard, rather than the adapter. They break frequently. Get it checked before you buy a new adapter, the having to bend the cable is the key here. Usually it means the connector is loose on the motherboard.

Sorry.

PS, you might consider a cheap/used desktop for home use to save wear on the laptop.
Date/Time: 2008-05-28 23:04 (UTC)Posted by: [identity profile] lynsangelic1.livejournal.com
I only assumed it was the cable due to the horrible erosion of the outer plastic and wires exposed... :s

Got the new cable today and it's working perfectly. I'm pretty handy in the guts of a desktop but I'd be too frightened to crack open the laptop in case I completely fuck-up. I might ask my cousin to take a look though - she did IT at uni. Don't know when I'll see her though...

I do have an old desktop that I built but it needs a ridiculous amount of upgrading.

I'm happy I was mistaken, if it's working and charging now, then it's fixed. The connector is not a cheap repair. I don't like to work on laptops either. Lots of tiny connectors.

Huzzah! I'm a thousand times thankful it's not the connector. That would not have made me happy...
